“The Longest Day”
I have written an Alouette, created by Jan Turner It consists of two or more stanzas of 6 lines each, (12 lines or more)with the following set rules:
Syllabic: 5/5/7/5/5/7 and
Rhyme Scheme: aabccb.
This Alouette is about that long day when you forget everything to Shake hands with that stranger inside.
That Longest Day
always in a crowd
silent and cowed
I walked road unknown
not afraid of protocol
just to be me enthrallls
myself truly shone
one day I was my friend
a pretence none to defend
lost myself in myself
time stood still
endless miles to kill
surreal sojourn to self
day sun never set
golden trail's dragnet
cast on soul's starry expanse
caught me untried catch-
a huge cache unmatched
of finding that inner stance
