As the cannons roared,
Balls of fire revved up,
Streaking the dark skies,
Tainting my soil red.
I wonder,
Where the love went?
I yearn for those days,
When vernal bloom,
Thawed the icy facades.
When warmth seeped,
Infusing life into cloistered cages.
A playful gambol,
A fragrant melody,
It reverberated the land.
And now!
An eerie silence,
A silence of death!
A cache of dismal pain,
Firmly buried in cold hearts.
They feel not,
For they see not.
As the roar resonates,
Souls in an endless void,
A silent cacophany!
And I wonder,
Where the love went?
