Top of the table by KL Caley
A soul soared high,
Bonds broken,
An Ariel free,
It waltzed to the notes,
Its own.
And denizens below,
It watched them,
Faces seen,
Aeons ago,
Now saying kind words,
No longer in a surly tone.
Maybe!
They were glad to see it go.
Goodies passed,
Tables laid in bountiful,
Dainty linen,
Shining cutlery on pottery blue,
As pristine sheets,
Starched white,
Spread galore.
Orchids white,
Embellished Aura!
And they forgot!
It abhorred orchids so more.
It laughed aloud,
So what?
They forgot it,
They forgot what it had loved,
And they chose to forget,
When It was amidst.
Singing paens,
Words hollow,
Tears glassy,
And shallow.
An elegy,
They wrote,
A fallacy.
It smiled,
Freed from the life’s charade,
Seeing life,
Afar,
It sees truth.
It flew high,
It smiled now.
The charade over,
Loved ones left,
The air bereft of all love,
The table that buzzed now silent,
And the empty chairs,
A relic of love lost,
Hallmarking each one,
Commemorating memories,
Pulsating through the cold metal,
Ringing subtle,
But silent!

Ooh a really intriguing entry, brilliant. I loved this line – “The charade over,”.
Haunting. Thanks for taking part in the https://new2writing.wordpress.com/2021/03/25/writephoto-table/ challenge. KL ❤
