Crestfallen

Crestfallen she was,

For they broke her heart

to smithereens,

And times umpteen.

But still she smiled,

She had a visage bright,

An aura to envy,

And twinkle in the eye.

She cried unseen,

Her inner eye wept,

The shattered debris of her heart,

She picked them all one by one.

There was an acceptance benign,

A stoic resistance to what was imposed.

She still held steadfast to her dreams untold,

She did not give up hope.

Crestfallen she was,

But she lived to live her dream,

That destiny would surely unfold.
