Guilty

She was guilty
For she did not conform.

She could not be reigned,
So she was shackled.

She wanted to run free,
They tied her hard with ropes of rules.

Her wanton streak,
Her untamed spirit,
They made her conscience guilty.

For she was to be,
What she had to be,
And not what she wanted to be.

She silenced the forbidden desires,
She hushed the arduous wishes.

She could not carry the burden of remorse,
For she did not cast herself in the mould./
