On the day 5,Goddess Durga is worshipped as Skandamata. She is the mother of Lord Kartikeya who is also known as Skanda. She is seated on a lotus. She has 3 eyes and has 4 arms carrying lotus, water material and a bell. Lord Kartikeya is in her lap. She is also known as Goddess of Fire.
According to mythology, Tarkasur, a demon, asked the boon of immortality from God Brahma. When he refused to grant him the boon, the demon asked to be killed by Shiva’s son as he would never marry. To circumvent him, the Gods begged Shiva to marry Goddess Parvati and their son Kartikeya killed the demon.
Skandamata portrays a mother and child relationship. She is extremely protective of her son and rides with him in the lap on a lion to slay the demons.
She blesses us with wisdom, knowledge and prosperity.
And on the 5th day, my mind is in a state of flux. There is a need to do more of something. I am trying to find answers to questions to some whats and whys.
And then I see the light of the day.
My conundrum is solved.
You call it divine realisation or the fact that I am in contemplative mode that my mind sees more.
I call it both.
God shows us the path and it is for us to decide whether we walk on it or not.
I am at peace for I know what to do and how to do. I am feeling stronger and better equipped to face this world.
